Whitecaps FC name roster for Thursday’s match in Saskatchewan

VANCOUVER, BC – The Vancouver Whitecaps FC Development Squad is off to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan to face the SK Selects on Thursday as part of the SK Summer Soccer Series. Kickoff will be at 7:30 p.m. local time (6:30 p.m. PT) at SMF Field.

With Development Squad head coach Nick Dasovic away, Whitecaps FC U-19 Academy head coach Ricky King will lead the side into the Prairies, assisted by U-15 Academy head coach Scott Howey.

Of particular note on the ‘Caps roster will be Saskatoon’s own Thomas Hasal. The 20-year-old goalkeeper came through the Whitecaps FC BMO Saskatchewan Academy Centre, before joining the ‘Caps MLS Academy in Vancouver, and in March signed an MLS contract with the first team. Joining the team as a guest player is Thomas Pinder, who came through the Whitecaps FC BMO Academy System in Alberta.

Captaining the team will be first team midfielder David Norman Jr., who returns to action following a fracture in his right foot suffered against AFC Bournemouth during the Development Squad trip to England in March.

Also returning to the field is fellow Homegrown first team midfielder Michael Baldisimo, who will be looking to play his first competitive match since suffering a left ankle injury at training on January 22.

Five players on the team will be preparing for a pre-World Cup camp with Canada’s U-17 men’s national team: Emiliano Brienza, Simon Colyn, Nathan Demian, Kamron Habibullah, and Deylen Vellios.
