Whitecaps FC Academy striker Frixos Petsas called up to Cyprus U-17 national team

Whitecaps FC BMO U-17 Academy striker Frixos Petsas has been called up to the Cyprus U-17 national team to play in the Telki Cup in Hungary from August 7 to 13.

Petsas, 16, originally hails from Nicosia, Cyprus before he and his family moved to Vancouver. Petsas joined the Whitecaps FC MLS Academy in August 2017 after previously playing with Mountain United FC in the EA SPORTS BC Soccer Premier League.

This past season, Petsas scored five goals while starting six of his 16 appearances for the U-17s in the Development Academy league. During the previous season, he scored 15 goals for the U-15 academy team while starting 21 of 26 matches.
