BMO Academy Report: 'Caps fall 2-1 in first match at U-13 Champions League

SAN JOSE, COSTA RICA – In their first competitive match together, the newly formed Whitecaps FC Pre-Academy team – part of the Whitecaps FC BMO Academy System – fell 2-1 to C.D. Universitario of Panama to start the 2019 Concacaf U-13 Champions League.

The 'Caps went down a goal early on, then down a man on a second yellow card as the score was 1-0 for the Panamanians at the half.

C.D. Universitario scored one more early in the second half to go up 2-0, but the 'Caps continued fighting. Kyler Vojvodic pulled one back on a rebound after a free kick hit the post for the Blue and White to make it 2-1.

The 'Caps fought until the end before the final whistle confirmed the result in their first effort together. Next up is a match against Jamaica's Mount Pleasant Academy on Sunday at 9 a.m. PT (10 a.m. local time). A live stream will be available at facebook.com/scotiabankfutbolclub.
