BMO Academy Report: U-19s win in Portland, U-17s and U-15s prepare for GA Cup qualifiers

Whitecaps FC boys academy teams were back in action on Sunday, taking on rivals Portland Timbers in Oregon.

U-19

The U-19s came back twice from a goal down to win 3-2 over their Cascadia rivals.

Emiliano Brienza scored the first goal before Thomas Raimbault added the last two.

U-17

The U-17s went down 3-0 early before pulling back to 3-2 in the second half, but ultimately fell by a 5-2 final score.

Caleb Vallance and Muslim Umar scored the goals for the ‘Caps.

The U-15s fell by a 2-1 score to the Timbers.

Jay Herdman scored the goal for the ‘Caps.

NEXT UP

The U-17s and U-15s will play their first round of Generation adidas Cup qualifiers this weekend at Dick’s Sporting Good Park in Colorado.

Playing in Group A, both teams will face their counterparts from FC Dallas on Friday, the host Colorado Rapids on Saturday, and LAFC on Monday.

Meanwhile, a number of ‘Caps will be heading to Argentina to prepare to represent Canada at the 2019 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Brazil starting on October 26.
