Saskatchewan Prospects Academy

 

The Whitecaps Saskatchewan Academy centre is working in partnership and collaboration with Saskatchewan Soccer Association (SSA) to support the development pathway in the province. The Saskatoon Academy centre will act as the main program with a connecting regional program in Regina set to launch soon. Following are the Saskatoon programs in place for 2017/2018. 

Programs

  • Boys Residency Prospects - links directly to the Boys Residency in Vancouver.   Ages U17 to U15
  • Boys Residency Reserves Prospects - a feeder to the Residency Prospects program. Ages U14 to U18
  • Girls Prospects - links to the SSA Girls Rex program.  The SSA Girls Rex program also links directly to the Whitecaps Girls Elite Super Rex program in Vancouver.  Ages U14 to U18.
  • Boys and Girls Pre Prospects – provides training and feeder opportunities to the above. Ages U8 to U12.

  • Overseen by Vancouver Head coaches who will provide official curriculum and resources that are connected to the Whitecaps boy's Residency and Girl's Elite Super REX programs in Vancouver.
  • Visits from Whitecaps FC Vancouver based coaching staff
  • Opportunities for travel including Vancouver for training and a Whitecaps FC MLS match
  • Collegiate and University education and opportunities.

Structure

Boys Residency Prospects

  • Full Time. -  (2000, 2001, 2002)
  • Invite only. - 16 to 18 players.  (Includes 2 GK)
  • 40 Weeks. – October to July. 
  • 140 sessions over 2 phases of on field sessions.  75 min.  6:45am – 8:00am. Mon, Tues, Thurs, Friday, Saturday
  • 2 phases of 40 strength sessions, 2 times per week.  60 min.  Days and Times TBA.  
  • Matches included in Training Schedule on Saturdays
  • Competition Projects - TBA

Boys Residency Prospects Schedule

  • Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays - 6:45 to 8:00 am
    • October: 2, 3, 5, 6, 10, 12, 14, 16, 17, 19, 20, 21, 23, 24, 26, 27, 28, 30, 31
    • November: 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 9, 10, 14, 16, 17, 18, 20, 21, 23, 24, 25, 27, 28, 30
    • December: 1, 2, 4, 5, 7, 8, 9, 11, 12, 14, 15, 16, 18, 19
    • January: 8, 9, 11, 12, 13, 15, 16, 18, 19, 22, 23, 25, 26, 27, 29, 30
    • February: 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10

Notes: 

- Top 2003 players will be identified for a High Potential Player (HPP) Combine in Vancouver, November 20-25; This will be a user pay event. If identified by Whitecaps Staff during this event you will be invited back for a second combine February 12-16 where full cost will be covered. 

- Match play in the Showcase series will continue. League fees will be separate (this is because they have not been determined by SSA). 

Boys Residency Reserves Prospects  

  • Full time. 2005 to 2003 born players
  • Invite only.  
  • 40 on field sessions.  90 min.   2 - 3 sessions a week.
  • Matches included in Training Schedule on Saturdays
  • Competition Projects – TBA
  • Note - Weight training sessions are not included in the below programming and is not a requirement to participate in the training. 

Phase 2 - Boys Reserves Schedule

  • Mondays and Tuesdays - 4:30 to 6:00 pm, Saturdays 10:15 to 11:45 am - Elite Proformance Sport Centre
    • September: 9, 11, 12, 18, 19, 25, 26, 30
    • October: 2, 3, 10, 14, 16, 17, 21, 23, 24, 28, 30, 31
    • November: 4, 6, 7, 14, 18, 20, 21, 25, 27, 28
    • December: 2, 4, 5, 9, 11, 12
    • January: 8, 9, 15, 16

Notes:

Girls Prospects  

- Open Registration
- 2 to 3 times per week. 
- 3 phases of 25 sessions each. 
- Note - Weight training sessions are not included in the below programming and is not a requirement to participate in the training. 

  • Girls Prospects Program - 2000 to 2004 born players 
    • Tuesdays and Thursdays 6:00 to 7:30 pm, Sundays 10:15 to 11:45 am.

  • November: 7, 9, 14, 16, 19, 21, 23, 26, 28, 30
  • December: 3, 5, 7, 10, 12, 14, 17
  • January: 9, 11, 14, 16, 18, 21, 23, 25

Pre Prospects 

  • 2010 born to 2006 born Boys and girls
  • 20 to 24 players per age above.  (Open invitation)
  • 3 Phases of 25 sessions each. September to June.
  • 2 sessions a week. Saturday and Sunday. 9:00 to 10:15 am at Elite Proformance Sport Centre

Schedule for Pre-Prospects

  • September: 9, 10, 16, 17, 23, 24, 30
  • October: 1, 14, 15, 21, 22, 28, 29
  • November: 4, 5, 18, 19, 25, 26
  • December: 2, 3, 9, 10, 16
    • Note - September 16 and 17 sessions will be held at University of Saskatchewan, Field 7 & 8. 

Opportunities may become available for Pre-Prospect players to join High Potential Player teams that will be travelling to Vancouver at different points of the year. Opportunities will be communicated to players as they arise.

Equipment: 

  • All new players require a WFC training kit and track suit.
  • One-time fee, valid for at least two years
  • Mandatory - Training kit (shorts, shirt, socks) - $80 + GST
