Program

 What is the difference between Whitecaps FC Virtual and on field programs?

Virtual is all done online so players can do it from their home.

 What is the coach/participant ratio?

1:12

 How will the coach communicate individually with players?

Coaches will give specific live feedback in their breakout rooms as players train. Also, each player and parent will have a Zoom meeting with their assigned coach to discuss their Individual Development Plan.

 How are the players grouped?

U9-U13 players together, and U13-U16 players together. Within each session breakout rooms will be assigned based on age proximity.

 What if I can’t attend one of the days?

Please send a notification to gopro@whitecapsfc.com. There are no refunds or credits for individual sessions missed.

 Do parents need to be involved?

Parents need to be involved in the Zoom meetings and to monitor their child’s safety while training and on individual sessions.

 How many days will the program run?

1 or 2 sessions per week for 8 weeks.

 How long is each day of academy?

1 hour per day.

 What will I receive from attending the Virtual Academy?

Players will be getting their IDP plan and the BMO Academy centre jersey if purchased.

 Will there be any appearances from first-team players?

We will be offering virtual player appearances with our programming, to be scheduled during the 8 week program.

 Will I be interacting with other players on the Virtual Academy?

There is always live interaction by training together and skill competitions.

Registration

 When will I receive the information on how to log into my session?

You will receive an invite to the welcome meeting 2-4 days prior to the start of your scheduled session. Details on how to log on and important information will be shared during that meeting and then subsequently emailed out to participants.

 What do I get when I register on the Virtual Academy?

IDP and if you purchased a jersey, that will be shipped to you.

 How do I log in?

We use Zoom for all of our virtual programming. You’ll need to ensure you have a webcam with internet connectivity. Links to the private Zoom sessions will be emailed to you 2-4 days prior to the start of sessions.

 Can I sign my child up in a private session with their friends?

We will do our best to facilitate group requests for virtual programming but we can’t guarantee it as we want to ensure suitable training groups as well. Please submit the request when you complete the registration form. Whitecaps FC reserves the right to move players to different groupings throughout the program.

 Do I need to sign-up multiple children separately or can they attend the same session?

Multiple children can be registered for the program however, they must be using different devices for the virtual program. Any special situations can be submitted to gopro@whitecapsfc.com for a special approval. Anyone who is found to be breaking this rule may be removed from the program with no refund.

Payments, refunds and credits

 If I already purchased a 2020 camp, can I use my registration fees towards the Virtual Academy?

Yes, please reach out to gopro@whitecapsfc.com to help facilitate a credit transfer.

 Do you offer refunds?

We review refunds out of programs on a case by case basis. Please email gopro@whitecapsfc.com.

 Is there any insurance coverage for virtual training sessions?

Players complete a player participant waiver at the start of training and parents/players are responsible for ensuring they are in a safe and suitable training environment for any virtual training.

Technical equipment

 What computer or technical equipment do I need?

You just need a computer, a laptop (either PC or a MAC), tablet or cell phone with a good audio and webcam.

 Is the platform safe/secure? What are you doing about online safety?

We are password protecting all of our virtual academy sessions and we control who has access to the sessions.

 What digital platform will the Academy be using?

Zoom.

 What if I have technical difficulties?

For technical difficulties, please email gopro@whitecapsfc.com. It’s recommended that you try to log on 10-15 minutes prior to the start of the session.

 How much playing space do I need to do activities?

5 v 5 yards of space with a wall or rebounder.

 What happens if I record any part of the Virtual Academy?

Participants are not allowed to record these sessions. Whitecaps FC reserves the right to record all of our virtual program sessions for quality assurance and promotional purposes.
