BURNABY, BC – Whitecaps FC 2 continued their MLS NEXT Pro campaign with a 3-1 victory against North Texas SC at Swangard Stadium on Friday evening.

The first half started with the Blue & White having an opportunity early on in the 2nd minute, as Théo Collomb's cross found Simon Becher inside the box, his header was saved off by goalkeeper Felipe Carneiro de Souza.

The young 'Caps continued their early pressure and got a chance in the 21st minute, as Vasco Fry found Emiliano Brienza, who's shot just curled wide off the left post.

North Texas SC looked to find answers of their own as Isaiah Parker's cross from the left flank of the field found Bernard Kamungo in the area and unleashed a first-time strike that rolled past the left post in the 34th minute.

Later on in the half, a Kamungo opportunity was parried away by 'Caps goalkeeper Max Anchor in the 40th minute of the match.

WFC2 opened the scoring early on in the second half, as fullback Elage Bah's cross found Collomb inside the box and his first time strike found the back of the net in the 47th minute.

With the half continuing, North Texas SC's Kamungo passed a ball to Luis Miguel Cardoso Santos, who's shot on the left side of the six yard box struck the top corner of the net to make it 1-1 in the 64th minute.

Following a set piece taken in the 71st minute, Emiliano Brienza's quick one touch pass gave Collomb the chance to unleash a right footed strike inside the area. The forward picked up his brace in the process and gave his squad a 2-1 lead.

In the 82nd minute, WFC2 would extend their lead as Becher was taken down inside the area following some quick footwork and was awarded a penalty kick. The forward then converted from the spot to cushion the score line.

The young ‘Caps continue their June homestand against San Jose Earthquakes II next Friday, June 24, with kickoff set for 7 p.m. PT. Tickets are complimentary for MLS season ticket members, or $10 at the game. You can also catch all the action live on www.mlsnextpro.com
