SILENCE THE MONARCHS: With four matches remaining in the MLS NEXT Pro regular season, Whitecaps FC 2 will look to gain a big boost towards their 2023 MLS NEXT Pro playoff hopes as they face Real Monarchs SLC on Friday, September 1 at Zions Bank Stadium in Herriman, Utah. The match will mark the second and final meeting of the season between the two teams, with the young 'Caps claiming a 1-0 victory back in June thanks to a Levonte Johnson goal.
PLAYOFF CHASE: Heading into the weekend's action, Whitecaps FC 2 sit in ninth in the Western Conference with 33 points, four points outside the playoff line behind sixth-placed Houston Dynamo 2 and seventh-placed St. Louis CITY2, who hold the last two playoff spots. A win on Friday could see the Blue and White go level on points with eighth-placed Minnesota United FC 2 on 36 points. Currently, only five points separate fifth and ninth in the West.
