Preview: WFC2 look to continue rising up Western Conference standings in away match against St. Louis CITY2

VANCOUVER, BC – With three wins in their first five matches, Whitecaps FC 2 will look to continue their bright start to the 2023 MLS NEXT Pro regular season on Sunday, April 30 as they face St. Louis CITY2 at CITYPARK in St. Louis, Missouri. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. PT.

Sunday's match will mark the third meeting between the two teams in MLS NEXT Pro, with the away team winning both meetings last season.

WEEKLY STORYLINES

LET THEM COOK: Through their first five matches of the season, Whitecaps FC 2 sit third in the Western Conference with 11 points and have tallied a league-leading 15 goals during that span. In their most recent match, WFC2 claimed a dominant 5-2 victory over MNUFC2 at Swangard Stadium and went on to be named the MLS NEXT Pro Team of the Matchday for Matchday 5. On Sunday, the young 'Caps aim to continue rising up the table as they face a St. Louis CITY2 side that has yet to claim a victory this season.

CANADIAN FLAIR: A big part of WFC2 has always been to give young players a platform to grow into the first team setup, while continuing to develop their skills in a competitive environment. This season, eight Canadians have combined for a total of 19 goal contributions, with Kamron Habibullah and Levonte Johnson leading the way with three goals as well as an assist each.
