The David Ousted Scholarship recognizes outstanding goalkeepers pursuing their academic and soccer dreams. The scholarship celebrates and supports inspiring youth who are leaders on the pitch, have strong academic accomplishments, and who give back to their community. 

This scholarship honours former professional goalkeeper David Ousted, best known for his time with the Vancouver Whitecaps FC.  He joined the Whitecaps in 2013 and became a fan favorite, holding several club records for goalkeepers, including most career wins and clean sheets.

April 27: Application portal opens
May 17: Application portal closes
Early June: Scholarship winners announced

Eligibility :

Applicants must be:  

• In their final year of high school, on track to graduate in the Spring  

• Current residents of British Columbia  

• Registered and hold the position of goalkeeper for one or more of the following teams:   

• High school soccer team  

• Academy team  

• Local club (select teams, metro teams, house teams)  

• Planning on attending an accredited Canadian post-secondary educational/technical/vocational institution in the Fall  

• Planning to continue to play high-performance, competitive soccer while completing post-secondary education  

Criteria:

The selection committee will be looking for well-rounded students who are committed to pursuing their academic and athletics goals and demonstrate a deep commitment to giving back to their community.

Notes:  

• Partially completed applications will not be accepted 

• All applicants’ personal information will remain confidential; however, details of the scholarship recipients may be shared in marketing and promotional materials once approved by the individual 

• Scholarship funds will be distributed to the post-secondary institution and can only be applied towards tuition costs relating to post-secondary education  

• Scholarships must be used within 12 months of issue
