Andrés Cubas called up to Paraguay's men's national team for June international window

VANCOUVER, BC – Vancouver Whitecaps FC midfielder Andrés Cubas has been called up to Paraguay's men's national team for their June international window.

The Designated Player will be looking to help his country continue their impressive CONMEBOL 2026 FIFA Men’s World Cup Qualifying campaign with two crucial matchups. First up, Paraguay will host Uruguay on Thursday, June 5 at Estadio Defensores del Chaco in AsunciĂ³n, Paraguay, with kickoff set for 4 p.m. PT.

Cubas and Paraguay will then wrap up the international window on Tuesday, June 10 with a visit to Brazil. Kickoff from Neo QuĂ­mica Arena in SĂ£o Paulo, Brazil is set for 5:45 p.m. PT. With four matches remaining in the qualifying campaign, Paraguay sit fifth in the standings with a 5W-3L-6D record (21 points), as they hope to qualify for their first World Cup since 2010.

Cubas will miss the 'Caps MLS regular season home match against Seattle Sounders FC on Sunday, June 8.

Born in Argentina, Cubas has represented Paraguay at the international level 28 times since 2020, making 25 starts in World Cup Qualifying, Copa América and friendly competition. Cubas previously played for Argentina at the U-20 level, where he started two of his three appearances for the side at the 2015 U-20 World Cup in New Zealand.

So far this season, Cubas has started 17 of his 19 appearances across all competitions in 2025, recording one assist.

All-time, Cubas has made 105 starts and 112 appearances since joining Whitecaps FC in April 2022, adding a goal as well as 10 assists.
