VANCOUVER, BC – Vancouver Whitecaps FC midfielder Sebastian Berhalter and forward Brian White have been called up to the United States men's national team for their upcoming June international friendlies, the federation confirmed on Thursday.

The pair will join the USMNT for two friendlies ahead of the 2025 Concacaf Gold Cup, which is set to begin on Saturday, June 15. The U.S. will face Turkey in the first friendly on Saturday, June 7 at Rentschler Field in East Hartford, Connecticut, with kickoff set for 12:30 p.m. PT. The second and final friendly ahead of the Gold Cup will see the U.S. take on Switzerland at Geodis Park in Nashville, Tennessee on Tuesday, June 10, with kickoff set for 5 p.m. PT.

As a result, Berhalter and White will miss the 'Caps MLS regular season home match against Seattle Sounders FC on Sunday, June 8.

This is the first time Berhalter has been called up to the USMNT and the first time he's represented his country at any level since featuring for the U-16 side in his youth. The fourth-year 'Caps midfielder is one of four players who will take part in their first USMNT camp.

This season, Berhalter has enjoyed a productive start to 2025, recording four goals and five assists across all competitions. Of note, the midfielder has been a key piece of the 'Caps run to the 2025 Concacaf Champions Cup Final, scoring in both legs against Inter Miami CF in the semifinals and finding the net in the second leg at Pumas UNAM in the quarterfinals. Berhalter has recorded the second most minutes on the team at 1,615 across all competitions, and leads the team several categories in MLS play, including in key passes with 28, chances created with 25, expected assists with 3.1, successful crosses with 20, and is tied for the team-lead in big chances created with six.

Since being acquired via trade from Columbus Crew in 2022, Berhalter has made 73 starts and 123 appearances across all competitions for Whitecaps FC, scoring nine goals and adding 16 assists.

This marks White’s fourth call-up to the USMNT, having previously made two starts and four appearances for his country. Earlier this year, the 'Caps MLS-era leading goalscorer scored his first international goal in a 3-0 victory over Costa Rica. White earned his first cap for his country during the 2024 January camp, as he started and played 62 minutes in an international friendly against Slovenia.

In 2025, the highest-scoring American in MLS for the last two seasons has already scored 13 goals in 15 starts and 18 appearances across all competitions, with eight of those goals coming in MLS play, five in Concacaf Champions Cup action, and five of his goals standing as gamewinners. White has received league recognition for his performances thus far in MLS play, winning the MLS Player of the Month award for April - a month that saw him record the first four-goal performance in the club's MLS era against Austin FC on April 12 - and earning three MLS Team of the Matchday selections. In addition, this season has seen White etch closer to 100 career goals for club and country, currently sitting at 96 heading into this Saturday's MLS regular season away match against Real Salt Lake.

Since joining the club in 2021, White has gone on to start 140 of his 163 appearances across all competitions for the 'Caps, sitting as the MLS era leader in goals scored with 68 and tallying the second-most goal contributions in the club's MLS era with 82. White also sits fourth in goals scored across all eras for the club, sitting 10 away from equaling Jason Jordan for third and 11 away from equaling John Catliff for second.

The USMNT continues their new era in 2025 under former Tottenham Hotspur FC, Paris Saint Germain, and Chelsea FC head coach Mauricio Pochettino, as they prepare to host the 2026 FIFA Men’s World Cup alongside Canada and Mexico.
