Bola - player of the month

Christian Bolaños is the Whitecaps FC Player of the Month, presented by Coldwell Banker.

The Costa Rican took home the honours for July after narrowly beating his countrymate Kendall Waston in a poll conducted on Twitter this week.

Bolaños, 32, played the full 90 minutes in all six of Vancouver’s MLS regular season matches this month. He picked up a pair of assists and led the team in both chances created (11) and touches (367). The two-time FIFA World Cup veteran, who is now second on the team in goals and assists, also had an assist in Vancouver’s friendly against Crystal Palace FC.

The Whitecaps FC Youth Player of the Month for July is Girls Elite Regional Excel Centre (REX) midfielder Kaela Hansen. The Burnaby, BC native made her first tour with the Canadian U-17 women’s national team this past month, appearing in all three matches at the CFA International Women’s Youth Football Tournament 2016 in Weifang, China.

“Kaela came into the REX group late last year after working extremely hard to perform in the EA SPORTS BC Soccer Premier League,” said Emma Humphries, head of the club’s Girls Elite REX program. “Since then, she has continued to impress the coaching staff and is deserving of this honour.”
