VANCOUVER, BC – Vancouver Whitecaps FC defender Giuseppe Bovalina has been called up to Australia's U-23 side for their upcoming January international window.
Australia are set to compete in the AFC U-23 Asian Cup 2026 in Saudi Arabia. This is the seventh edition of the tournament, which will be held in Saudi Arabia, and will feature 44 teams that will then be divided into 11 groups. The final of the tournament will be held on January 24.
Australia was drawn in Group D, alongside Iraq, Thailand, and China.
They will open up group stage play against Thailand on Thursday, January 8, followed by a clash against China on Sunday, January 11, and then closing out with a meeting with Iraq on Wednesday, January 14.
This marks the fourth time Bovalina has been called up to Australia's U-23 side.
Since joining Whitecaps FC in April 2024, Bovalina has made four starts and 24 appearances across all competitions for the Blue and White, tallying two assists.
