Canada eliminated from 2015 FIFA U-20 World Cup contention after 2-1 loss to Cuba

Canada's U-20 men's national team will not advance to the 2015 FIFA U-20 World Cup after suffering a 2-1 loss to Cuba on Monday in their second-to-last group stage match of the 2015 U-20 CONCACAF Championship.

Cuba's Frank Lopez scored two first-half goals before Whitecaps FC Residency graduate Jackson Farmer made it 2-1 with a right-footed volley in the 53rd minute. The Canadians came on strong in the closing stages – Farmer and Whitecaps FC fullback Sam Adekugbe were both stymied by goalkeeper Elier Pozo late –  but fell just short in the end.

Canada's final match of the group stage is set for Thursday against Honduas (2:30 p.m. PT).
