Canada finishes perfect January with 2-0 win in El Salvador

Canada v El Salvador 2

Three huge matches, three huge wins. Canada's men's national team is flying and closing in on the country's first berth in the men's FIFA World Cup since 1986.

It wasn't always pretty in a tough match in El Salvador, but a bizarre goal from captain Atiba Hutchinson in the second half gave the Red & White a 1-0 lead.

Jonathan David then sealed it late with a calm finish on a breakaway for a 2-0 final score. It was the sixth straight win for head coach John Herdman and Canada.

Canada finishes the January window in first place in Concacaf World Cup qualifying with 25 points, four points or more ahead of any other country. They will conclude qualifying in March with matches at Costa Rica (March 24), at home to Jamaica (March 27), and at Panama (March 30).
