Canada WNT advance to Olympic quarterfinals

Canada's women's national team advanced to the Olympic quarterfinals after a 1-1 draw with Great Britain on Tuesday. The result placed them second in Group A, matching them up with Brazil (1 a.m. PT on CBC).

Three grads from the Whitecaps FC Girls Elite REX program in partnership with BC Soccer helped Canada to the result. Jayde Riviere earned a second straight start, Julia Grosso made her second consecutive appearance, while Jordyn Huitema made her Olympic debut.

Adriana Leon scored the goal for Canada before Great Britain tied it late.
