VANCOUVER, BC – The road to Hi5tory and an unprecedented fifth consecutive Voyageurs Cup continues.
Canada Soccer confirmed on Friday the dates and kickoff times for the 2026 TELUS Canadian Championship semifinal, with Vancouver Whitecaps FC set to face MLS rivals CF Montréal in a two-leg showdown. The first leg will be played at BC Place on Wednesday, September 2 before the decisive second leg at Stade Saputo on Wednesday, September 16.
Tickets for the semifinal at BC Place are included with 2026 Whitecaps FC season memberships. Tickets go on sale to the general public on Monday, August 10, at 10 a.m. PT at ticketmaster.ca/whitecaps. Information on group tickets, parital plans, and premium options are available at whitecapsfc.com/tickets.
The semifinal renews one of Canada's longest-standing professional soccer rivalries. The clubs first met in 1993 when Vancouver competed as the Vancouver 86ers and Montréal as the Montréal Impact. Since then, they've met 80 times across all competitions, with Montréal holding a 37W-28L-15D record. Whitecaps FC have the edge in the TELUS Canadian Championship, posting a 7W-4L-6D record against Montréal.
Vancouver booked its place in the final four after defeating Canadian Premier League side Cavalry FC 5-2 on aggregate, while CF Montréal advanced with a 4-2 aggregate victory over CPL team Vancouver FC.
Whitecaps FC are chasing history in this year's competition, seeking an unprecedented fifth consecutive Voyageurs Cup and sixth Canadian Championship title overall after lifting the trophy in 2015, 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025. Winning the tournament would also secure qualification for the 2027 Concacaf Champions Cup.
The winner of the Whitecaps FC versus CF Montréal semifinal will host the 2026 TELUS Canadian Championship Final on Wednesday, October 21. The pathway responsible for hosting the final was determined during the official competition draw.
As with the quarterfinals, the semifinals are organised as a home-and-away series whereby the team with the most goals scored across two matches advances to the next round. If the aggregate score is tied after two matches, then the series will be determined in either extra time, or if necessary, a penalty shootout.
New for the semifinals and the final, Canada Soccer will implement Football Video Support to support match officials across the last five matches of the 2026 TELUS Canadian Championship. The introduction of Football Video Support in these two rounds will complement the use of the 2026-27 IFAB Laws of the Game which have been in place since the Preliminary Round.
