'Caps & Queens: Whitecaps FC to host Vancouver's largest drag happy hour on July 8

VANCOUVER, BC – Vancouver’s largest drag happy hour is set for Saturday, July 8!

Whitecaps FC announced on Tuesday that the club will be hosting ‘Caps & Queens outside of BC Place prior to the club’s 10th Anniversary Pride Match against Seattle Sounders FC. ’Caps & Queens is a free event open to ages 19+, with drinks starting at only $5.

Following ‘Caps & Queens, Whitecaps FC will host the huge Cascadia Cup clash against rivals Seattle Sounders FC with kickoff at 7:30 p.m. PT.

The fun starts at 3 p.m. PT with a live set from DJ Nick Bertossi. ’Caps & Queens will be hosted by Synthia Kiss (Canada’s Drag Race season 2), and feature drag performances from Batty Banks, Bibi Souphresh, Genesis (Vancouver’s Next Drag Superstar 2023), Jerrilynn Spears, Kara Juku (Vancouver’s Next Drag Superstar 2020), and Tiffany Ann Co. In-between drag sets will be a performance from acclaimed singer/songwriter Matthew Presidente.

At halftime, Synthia Kiss will be in-stadium to perform, as well as a very special ensemble from the Rainbow Concert Band, Canada's only LGBTQ2S+ concert band.

Qmunity is the designated non-profit partner for the match. They will be activating and fundraising onsite. The club is kicking off with a $10,000 donation, with all proceeds going directly to support free and accessible mental health services for 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals, especially at-risk youth.

Fun for the whole family can be found on Terry Fox Plaza! Kicking off at 4 p.m. PT, the plaza will feature DJ Juice and the one and only Conni Smudge, with facepainting, games and entertainers on site.

Whitecaps FC are also seeking additional local LGBTQIA2S+ talent to add to the matchday experience, including but not limited to dancers, visual artists, singers, musicians, community organizations, and vendors. Interested artists and talent can apply HERE.
