'Caps Chronicle: Martin Rennie press scrum

VANCOUVER WHITECAPS FC:

With the MLS Expansion Draft, there is sometimes the loss of good players because only 11 can be protected by existing league teams - "I'd have rather not lost anybody," said Whitecaps FC coach Martin Rennie. "We liked Jeb and he had a good first season as a rookie. It's disappointing to lose him, but it's a good opportunity for him."  As well, Rennie shared his thoughts on Nizar Khalfan being picked up by Philadelphia Union. "I think he's a good player with a lot of potential, and I'm pleased that he's got an opportunity to be in the league," the ‘Caps head coach said. "We have other ideas in mind with that position. Generally, we're looking for more production. We like pace and movement, but we like assists and goals more." (Marc Weber – The Province)

Former Whitecaps FC midfielder Khalfan also garnered some thoughts from president Bob Lenarduzzi - "He never causes you any problems, he keeps his mouth shut and gets on with it - a real treat to deal with." (Bruce Constantineau – The Vancouver Sun)

Thanks to an eight-match unbeaten streak and a strong performance in 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifying, the Canadian men’s national team have been officially moved up to 72nd in the FIFA World Rankings. (Postmedia News & The Vancouver Sun)
