'Caps play to draw vs. New Mexico

SAN DIEGO, CA – Playing their second of four preseason matches in 11 days, Whitecaps FC battled to a 0-0 draw against USL Championship side New Mexico United on Wednesday.

Vanni Sartini's side had several first half chances, including a pair of strikes from Lucas Cavallini, but the match was scoreless at halftime.

The second half saw newcomer Sebastian Berhalter make his debut, as well as invitee Andre Rawls come on in net.

Simon Becher had the best chance in the second half but was denied by the New Mexico goalkeeper to keep the match at a 0-0 final score.

The 'Caps are back in preseason action on Saturday when they take on the local pro team, USL Championship side San Diego Loyal SC. Kickoff will be at 7 p.m. PT with coverage on Whitecaps FC social channels and whitecapsfc.com.
