Colin's Keys to the Battle in Seattle

Colin Miller's Keys to the Match

Tune in on matchdays for a one hour pre-match show and one hour post-match show as Colin Miller and Corey Basso call the action live on AM730. Saturday’s pre-match show kicks off at 5 p.m. PT at whitecapsfc.com/am730.

Here are Colin’s keys for the match in Seattle between the top two teams in the Western Conference over the past 15 matches.

Thomas Hasal

With goalkeeper Maxime Crépeau away with Canada (who earned a good road point in Mexico on Thursday), it’s again time for young Thomas Hasal to step into the net.

Saturday will be his seventh start of the season, and he’s lost only once so far.

But this will be a big occasion for him, his biggest test yet.

Disciplined/organized performance

Seattle are a very good team.

It’s no coincidence that they are at the top of the Western Conference.

For the ‘Caps, they need to make sure that they don’t lose the ball in their own end.

Seattle are very good on the break.

Get the ball in the box

Brian White is on fire, and so is Ryan Gauld.

White has done his damage in close, scoring all three of his hat-trick goals last weekend inside the box.

Gauld set up two of those goals, with another on a free kick from Déiber Caicedo. Continuing to have good delivery from all set plays will be key.
