VANCOUVER, BC – Vancouver Whitecaps FC confirmed on Thursday that goalkeeper Maxime Crépeau and striker Lucas Cavallini have been named to Canada’s men’s national team 23-player roster for upcoming FIFA World Cup Qualifying matches against Honduras, the United States, and El Salvador.

Crepeau will join Canada following Vancouver’s MLS regular season home match against Real Salt Lake at BC Place on Sunday, August 29. Cavallini will remain in Vancouver to continue rehabbing a left PCL strain and will be eligible to join the national team camp when medically cleared. Crépeau and Cavallini will miss the ’Caps home match against Austin FC on Saturday, September 4.

“These men know they have a great opportunity to play in front of our fans for the first time in nearly two years, but more importantly the chance to get our campaign off to a great start in the next round of FIFA World Cup Qualifiers,” said John Herdman, Canada Soccer’s men’s national team head coach. “There’s been a lot of competition for places in this selection, so assembling this squad posed some nice problems for a coach.”

The first match against Honduras will take place on Canadian soil on Thursday, September 2 at BMO Field in Toronto, Ontario. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. PT, live on OneSoccer.

The second clash comes against the United Stated at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee on Sunday, September 5. Kickoff for that match is also set for 5 p.m. PT, live on TSN.

The last match against El Salvador will be hosted by Canada once again at BMO Field in Toronto, Ontario on Wednesday, September 8. Kickoff will be at 4:30 p.m. PT on OneSoccer.

Crépeau, who has kept two clean sheets for the national team this year, has 11 international caps after making his debut for Canada back on February 6, 2016 against the United States.

Cavallini has scored 16 goals in 26 appearances for the national team, most recently finding the back of the net for Canada five times in two FIFA World Cup Qualifying matches against Aruba and Cayman Islands earlier this year.
