Crépeau comes up big, but Canada falls in heartbreaker

CANvMEX

Maxime Crépeau came up with a massive penalty kick save in the second half, but a late goal saw Canada fall 2-1 to Mexico in the semifinals of the Concacaf Gold Cup.

Mexico opened things in the first half of a penalty kick to go up 1-0 at halftime.

The Canadians tied things up early in the second half when Tajon Buchanan was played down the left wing, cut into the box and fired it into the back of the net to make it 1-1.

Crépeau then came up huge minutes later, saving another penalty kick given to Mexico to keep the score level.

With only seconds remaining before extra time, Mexico found a later winner to advance to the final against the United States.
