VANCOUVER, BC – Vancouver Whitecaps FC will face Hamilton's Forge FC of the Canadian Premier League (CPL) in the semifinals of the 2025 TELUS Canadian Championship. Ticket information will be available in the coming days.
Semi-Final 1
- First Leg: Forge FC vs. Vancouver Whitecaps FC – Wednesday, August 13 (4 PM PT / 7 PM ET) at Hamilton Stadium (Hamilton, ON)
- Second Leg: Vancouver Whitecaps FC vs. Forge FC – Tuesday, September 16 (7 PM PT / 10 PM ET) at BC Place Stadium (Vancouver, BC)
The winner between Forge FC and Whitecaps FC will host the 2025 TELUS Canadian Championship Final on Wednesday, October 1. The Canadian Championship winner will lift the Voyageurs Cup and qualify for the 2026 Concacaf Champions Cup. Earlier this year, Whitecaps FC made a run to the final of the 2025 Concacaf Champions Cup.
Whitecaps FC are three-time defending Canadian Champions. If the 'Caps lift this year’s Voyageurs Cup, it would tie the record for the most consecutive titles by a Canadian club with four, and the first time it would have happened since CPL teams entered to expand the field. Toronto FC completed the four-peat as the lone MLS side in a three-team field in 2009 and 2010, and in a four-team tournament in 2011 and 2012.
The 'Caps made it to the quarterfinals after a 4-3 aggregate series win over Winnipeg's CPL club Valour FC. Forge FC made the semifinals after getting past MLS side CF Montréal for a second straight year, 3-2 on aggregate.
The other semifinal will be played between CPL sides Vancouver FC of Langely and Atlético Ottawa.
Semi-Final 2

- Second Leg: Atlético Ottawa vs. Vancouver FC– [Date] (Time PT / Time ET) at TD Place (Ottawa, ON)

The Evolution Continues
Canada Soccer is committed to the continued growth of the Canadian Championship in the years ahead. With the FIFA World Cup coming to Canada, Mexico and the United States next summer, expanding the number of participating teams or matches presents logistical challenges. In the coming weeks, Canada Soccer will collaborate with leagues to determine the most effective competition schedule for 2026 with different format options to be reviewed and submitted to the Professional Soccer Committee for recommendation.
Building on the changes introduced in this year’s championship – including the removal of the away goals rule and a new U-23 player minimum – further improvements are planned. For example, beginning in 2026, the tournament will expand the use of the Canadian Championship ranking index – an objective metric that considers performance in the tournament over the past four years with greater weighting from the most recent year. This index will be used to determine seeding order for all participating teams. The seeding system will be used to ensure that top-seeded teams are slotted into the tournament bracket, ensuring they do not face each other in the Preliminary Round, while also taking into consideration factors such as regionalization.
