Édier Ocampo receives first Colombia men's national team call-up for September-October international window

VANCOUVER, BC – Vancouver Whitecaps FC confirmed on Thursday that right back Édier Ocampo has been called up to Colombia's men's national team for the upcoming fall international window. This is Ocampo's first call-up to Colombia's senior team.

The window marks the first meeting for international sides after the 2026 FIFA Men's World Cup this summer. 

Colombia will play three friendly matches during the window, starting with a clash against Mexico on Saturday, September 26 at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore, Maryland, followed by a meeting with Paraguay on Friday, October 2 at Sports Illustrated Stadium in Harrison, New Jersey. Colombia will finalize the window against Peru, with the match taking place at Inter Miami CF Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on Tuesday, October 6.

Ocampo has previously represented his country at the youth levels, making a combined 25 appearances across the U-19, U-20, and U-23 sides. Four of those appearances came at the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Argentina. Ocampo started all four of his appearances at the tournament and registered an assist in the Round of 16 matchup against Slovakia before bowing out to Italy in the quarterfinals. In addition, Ocampo was a bronze medalist with the U-20 side at the 2022 South American Games, where he started four of Colombia’s five matches.

This year, Ocampo has enjoyed a breakout season with the 'Caps, tallying two goals as well as a team-leading eight assists in 30 starts and 33 appearances across all competitions. 

All-time, Ocampo has started 73 of his 86 appearances across all competitions since joining Whitecaps FC in August 2024, recording five goals and 11 assists.
