Rayan Elloumi earns World Cup call-up for Tunisia

VANCOUVER, BC – Tunisian Football Association confirmed on Friday that Vancouver Whitecaps FC forward Rayan Elloumi has been named to Tunisia's final 26-man roster for the upcoming 2026 FIFA Men’s World Cup.

This marks the second call-up to Tunisia’s senior roster for Elloumi, previously joining the team for two friendlies in the March international window. The 18-year-old Whitecaps FC 2 (WFC2) and Whitecaps FC BMO MLS Academy product made appearances in both of Tunisia’s friendlies, including one start in the Eagle of Carthage’s 1-0 victory over Haiti.

Tunisia has been drawn into Group F for the World Cup alongside the Netherlands, Japan, and Sweden. The team will kick off their 2026 World Cup on Sunday, June 14 against Sweden at Monterrey Stadium in Monterrey, Mexico before facing Japan on Saturday, June 20 at the same venue, and wrapping up group play against the Netherlands in Kansas City on Thursday, June 25.

Elloumi also has one goal in international play at the U23 level with the Eagles of Carthage.

This is Elloumi’s first full season with the ‘Caps first team, amassing 18 appearances and two goals in MLS, including playoffs, since signing a first team contract in September 2025. The forward was the eighth Whitecaps FC 2 (WFC2) MLS NEXT PRO player to join the squad, making his debut against Philadelphia Union on September 13, 2025 where he scored his first MLS goal as a substitute.

Elloumi has made one start in 11 appearances across all competitions this season. The 18-year-old originally joined the Whitecaps FC BMO MLS Academy in August 2023 from BTB Soccer Academy in Edmonton. During his first year in Vancouver, he competed at the MLS NEXT and League1 BC levels.
