VANCOUVER, BC – Major League Soccer announced on Thursday that attacking midfielder Ryan Gauld has been named to the MLS Team of Matchday 16 & 17.
After recovering from a left knee injury and off-season surgery, captain Ryan Gauld made his first MLS appearance since the MLS Cup on December 6, 2025, and his first league start since March 8, 2025, a span of 501 days, on Wednesday night at FC Cincinnati.
The Scottish international played 63 minutes and scored his first two goals of the season, recording his 100th and 101st goal contributions for Whitecaps FC. In addition to his brace, Gauld led the match with six touches in the opposition box, completed 88% of his passes, and connected on both of his crosses (2/2).

The 'Caps have maintained a heavy presence on the MLS Team of the Matchday through the season, with midfielder Sebastian Berhalter (Matchday 1, 3, 4, 6, 12, 13), striker Brian White (Matchday 3, 4, 7, 10, 15),  attacking midfielder Thomas Müller (Matchday 2, 15), defender MathÃas Laborda (Matchday 4, 11), forward Emmanuel Sabbi (Matchday 8), defender Tristan Blackmon (Matchday 3), as well as head coach Jesper Sørensen (Matchday 3, 15) also earning selections this year.
