He's a big dog guy and he loves a classic Jack Nicholson movie.

In this week's Getting to Know, presented by GE Appliances, we learn more about Ryan Gauld.

What’s your hometown (or country) known for?

My home town isn’t known for much. I suppose Scotland’s known for whiskey and IRNBRU.

What’s one thing that reminds you of home?

The weather and the greenery.

What do you love most about Vancouver?

The scenery and how much there is to do around the city.

Who’s one celebrity you’d most like to meet?

Jack Nicholson.

If you had to swap places with a teammate for a day, who would you choose?

Ranko [Veselinović], because he doesn’t train half the time or Leo [Owusu] because I’d like to be able to pull off the clothes he wears.

There’s a zombie apocalypse and you can choose three teammates to help you survive it. Who are you picking?

Flo [Jungwirth] because he’s crazy enough to fight the zombies, Ranko [Veselinović] because I would sacrifice him and either Max [Crépeau] so we could enjoy a little glass of wine before it all ends or Leo [Owusu] to have a good laugh.

If you could have one superpower, what would it be?

Go back in time, so that I could watch “Friends” from the start again.

Describe your dream home.

The house can be basic but we’ll have a big garden for my dogs, that’s all I need.

What do you think you will do once your playing days are over?

Something that requires very little human interaction. Not sure what but something that doesn’t involve having to be around heaps of people all the time.

What’s your favourite genre of music?

Indie, like Arctic Monkeys.

What’s your favourite movie?

Either “A Few Good Men” or “Taxi Driver”, they’re my two favourites.

Describe your dream vacation.

I’ve been to the Maldives before, that was amazing, so I’d probably like to try Hawaii or a holiday in New York.

What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?

Never quit, to persevere and never give up.

When you’re not in your uniform, what do you dress like?

I’m not a stylish guy, so anything that’s comfortable.

What’s the first thing you do when you wake up in the morning?

Brush my teeth and then let my dogs outside and come [to the training centre] and get breakfast or a coffee.

Describe the worst haircut you’ve ever had.

The headshot of me in FIFA 21. I thought it’d be cool to grow my hair long. That is the worst and it needs to be changed, I need to get that photo off the internet, that’s definitely the worst one.

If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Peri-peri chicken.

What would the title of your autobiography be?

Just A Boring Scot.

What’s the strangest job you’ve ever had?

I’ve only ever played football but when we were in the youth team, we had like jobs at training to do and I was the waterboy like I had to make sure the first team always had enough water.

What is your cellphone wallpaper?

My two dogs.

What’s the quirkiest thing about you?

I’m not a quirky guy. Probably my Pulp Fiction t-shirt that I bought the other day, as quirky as I get.

What’s your go-to dance move in the club?

To be honest, I avoid dancing, I’m the boring guy that sits in the corner just with a drink in his hand and doesn’t move, take it all in but just provide nothing.
