VANCOUVER, BC – Vancouver Whitecaps FC confirmed on Monday that Vancouver Whitecaps FC defender Mihail Gherasimencov will join the Moldova men’s national team for a pair of friendlies in the June international window.

This marks Gherasimencov’s fourth call up to Moldova’s senior team, most recently joining the squad for two international friendlies in the March window, where he started in both matches. The 21-year-old defender has five caps under his belt for his nation of birth and has also represented Moldova at the U-21 and U-19 levels.

Moldova will play two friendlies during this international window first facing Bulgaria on June 5 at Zimbru Stadium in Chişinau, Moldova. Then the team will travel to Yerevan, Armenia to play against the Armenian men’s national team at Vazgen Sargsyan Republican Stadium on June 9.

2026 marks Gherasimencov’s debut season with the ‘Caps first team, signing his MLS contract in December 2025 after a loan spell from Whitecaps FC 2 (WFC2) with Canadian Premier League side Cavalry FC.

Gherasimencov made his MLS debut with the ‘Caps on March 7 against Portland Timbers and has gone on to make appearances in five additional matches. The Moldovian international has also made two starts for the Blue and White, including playing his first full 90 minutes on March 15 against Minnesota United FC where he registered a 94% passing accuracy.
