VANCOUVER, BC – Vancouver Whitecaps FC defender Giuseppe Bovalina has been called up to Australia's U-23 side for their upcoming June international window, the federation confirmed on Thursday.
The team will play two matches against South Korea's U-23 side, with the first match on Thursday, June 5 and the second match set for Monday, June 9. Both matches will take place in the city of Yongin.
As a result, Bovalina will miss the 'Caps MLS regular season home match against Seattle Sounders FC on Sunday, June 8.
This marks the second time Bovalina has been called up to Australia's U-23 side. The 20-year-old's previous appearance for the Olyroos came in their penalty shootout win over Egypt in the semifinal of the West Asian Football Federation U-23 Championship back in March 2024.
Since joining Whitecaps FC in April 2024, Bovalina has made three starts and 18 appearances across all competitions for the Blue and White. The 20-year-old recorded his first assist for the club this season in the 3-1 road win over Minnesota United FC on April 27.
