International 'Caps: Davies gets two more assists, Waston strikes again

Alphonso Davies had two assists for Canada on Tuesday in a 5-0 Concacaf Nations League qualifying victory over Dominica at BMO Field.

The 17-year-old helped Canada get off to a quick start, setting up Jonathan David for Canada’s opening goal in the third minute. Davies, who played the full 90 minutes at left back, then combined with Cyle Larin in the 81st minute.

It was the second straight match Davies has recorded a pair of assists for Canada. He now has three goals and four assists in eight senior international appearances.

‘Caps midfielder Russell Teibert also played the full 90 minutes, earning his 21st cap for Canada.

WASTON STRIKES AGAIN

After becoming the first active Whitecaps FC player to appear and score in a FIFA World Cup this summer, Kendall Waston made his return to the Costa Rican national team on Tuesday.

And he found the back of the net again.

The ‘Caps captain headed home his fifth international goal in the 44th minute, drawing the score level at 1-1 in an international friendly at Red Bull Arena.

Waston would play the full 90 minutes for Costa Rica, who eventually fell 3-1 on the night.

Yordy Reyna was also in action on Tuesday, playing 31 minutes for Peru in a 1-1 draw with the United States in Connecticut.
