VANCOUVER, BC - Vancouver Whitecaps FC midfielder Julian Gressel has been named to the United States men's national team's final roster for the 2023 Concacaf Gold Cup.

Gressel will join up with the national team on Tuesday, June 20 in Chicago, Illinois ahead of the side's opening group stage match against Jamaica on Saturday, June 24 at Soldier Field, with kickoff set for 6:30 p.m. PT.

The United States will play their second and final group stage match against Nicaragua on Sunday, July 2 at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina, with kickoff set for 4 p.m. PT.

Gressel will miss the 'Caps away matches against Colorado Rapids (Wednesday, June 21), Los Angeles FC (Saturday, June 24), and Sporting Kansas City (Saturday, July 1). The German-born American could potentially miss more matches depending on the team's progression in the tournament.

Gressel, who can also play as a wingback or fullback, has made two appearances for the United States, including his debut on January 25 in a friendly against Serbia where he earned his first international assist in his first start.

Gressel has been a standout for Whitecaps FC in 2023, recording a team-leading seven assists as well as five goals across 19 starts and 23 appearances in all competitions. In MLS play, Gressel sits tied for the most big chances created with 12 and has the second-most expected assists with 4.7. He was also awarded the George Gross Memorial trophy earlier this month for being the most valuable player in the 2023 edition of the Canadian Championship, as he registered two goals and an assist en route to helping the 'Caps secure back-to-back Voyageurs Cup titles.

All-time, Gressel has started 30 of his 37 appearances for Vancouver since being acquired via trade from D.C. United in July 2022, tallying seven goals and nine assists.
