VANCOUVER, BC – League1 BC announced the 2024 schedule on Friday, with Vancouver Whitecaps FC opening the season at home on Sunday, April 28 against Unity FC at Thunderbird Stadium.
2024 will mark the third season for League1 BC, taking place from April to July with each club facing each other home and away in a single table format.
Similar to past years, each matchday will see both the Whitecaps FC Boys MLS Academy and the Whitecaps FC Girls Elite sides play the same opponent. The two teams enter their respective seasons as defending champions, with the boys defeating Victoria Highlanders in a shootout to win their first title and the Girls Elite winning their second straight title thanks to a 3-1 victory over Unity FC. The victories marked the first time in League1 BC history that both boys and girls teams from the same club won both titles. The two teams will play their home matches out of Thunderbird Stadium at the University of British Columbia.Â
The format for this year's League1 BC campaigns remains unchanged, with the top four teams from the regular season standings qualifying for the playoffs. The first and second place teams will host the semifinals in the last weekend of July, with the winners of those matches advancing to the League1 BC Championship Finals.
Burnaby FC enter the league as an expansion team and will play their home matches at Burnaby Lake Sports Complex.
