VANCOUVER, BC – League1 BC announced the 2023 schedule on Wednesday, with Vancouver Whitecaps FC opening the season at home on Sunday, April 30 against Victoria Highlanders FC at Ken Woods Field.
2023 will mark the second season for League1 BC, taking place from April to July with each club facing each other home and away in a single table format. It will also be the second year playing in the league for the Whitecaps FC Boys MLS Academy and the Whitecaps FC Girls Elite program at Ken Woods Field, with the latter entering the season as defending League1 BC champions.
In a change from the inaugural season, the top four teams from the regular season standings will qualify for the playoffs. The first and second place teams will host the semifinals in the last weekend of July, and the winners of those matches advancing to the League1 BC Championship Finals held on the BC Day long weekend.
Harbourside FC of Nanaimo, BC enter the league as an expansion team, while Varsity FC have changed ownership from the University of British Columbia to Hope and Health For Life Society and been rebranded as Nautsa’mawt FC.
