VANCOUVER, BC – Vancouver Whitecaps FC Girls Elite continued their unbeaten League1 BC campaign with a 2-1 victory against Altitude FC at Ken Woods Field this Wednesday evening. The club celebrated and honoured its seven graduating seniors, including Bella Lister, Megin Turi, Andrea Kraetzer, Olivia Ahern, Shae Taylor, Ava Wright and Izzy Monck.
The first half started with the home side scoring the first goal of the game. Andrea Kraetzer's short pass found Ahern in the midfield, and her long range shot outside the box flew into the net in the 19th minute of the match.
Later in the half, Ashley Roberts' run on the left flank saw the winger passing a ball inside the box, parried by the goalkeeper but not out of the path of Anna Hauer. The forward doubled her side's lead right before halftime in the 46th minute.
The second half began with the young 'Caps getting an opportunity early on, as Izzy Monck's shot was followed up by a Roberts rebound, but her shot was cleared off the line by the Altitude defence in the 49th minute.
The match progressed with the home side continuing to add pressure in their final third with some opportunities sent in.
As the Blue & White continued with their momentum in the midfield, forward Kierra Blundell's shot curled just wide of the net in the 88th minute.
A penalty was awarded in added time to Altitude FC, Kayla Campbell converted from the spot cutting the lead in half in the 92nd minute.
But it was not enough for the visitors as the 'Caps closed out another important win.
