Whitecaps FC head coach Carl Robinson makes one change to his starting XI from Wednesday’s 2-0 win over RSL with captain Pedro Morales replacing Cristian Techera, who Robinson revealed has been carrying a minor injury the last several weeks.
On Wednesday, Whitecaps FC recorded their first shutout in MLS action since April 23. Tonight will be the fourth consecutive match the same back seven have started.
Masato Kudo makes his second consecutive start after suffering a fractured jaw on May 11 against Chicago. He missed six league matches and all four Amway Canadian Championship games.
On Friday, Alphonso Davies became the third all-time youngest player to sign an MLS contract and youngest active player in the league. He’s one of three substitutes tonight looking to make their MLS debuts – the others are midfielder Ben McKendry and centre back Cole Seiler.
Also on the substitute’s bench is Techera, who has scored in two straight matches.
