NOTES

Whitecaps FC head coach Carl Robinson makes two personnel changes to his starting XI from last Saturday’s 2-0 defeat at Colorado Rapids, as Nicolás Mezquida and Masato Kudo draw in for Andrew Jacobson and Cristian Techera. The back line remains unchanged.

Tonight’s starting XI includes three players acquired during the summer transfer window: centre back David Edgar, left back Marcel de Jong, and forward/midfielder Giles Barnes. Edgar and Barnes will both be making their Whitecaps FC home debuts in MLS play. There are a total of five first-year ‘Caps starting tonight, including winger Christian Bolaños and striker Masato Kudo.

Pedro Morales starts alongside Matias Laba in midfield. The ‘Caps are 5W-1L-1D when Morales starts in the deeper centre mid role – and a perfect 3W-0L-0D when using a 4-3-2-1 formation.
