Marco Bustos called up to Canadian national team camp and friendly in Scotland

Canada Soccer announced on Saturday that Whitecaps FC midfielder Marco Bustos has been called up to the Canadian senior men’s national team's training camp and friendly in Scotland next week.


The attacking midfielder from Winnipeg, Manitoba will depart following Vancouver's home match versus Toronto FC on Saturday, March 18 to join the national side for the five-day camp, which includes a friendly against Scotland on Wednesday, March 22. The trip falls within the FIFA international window and will not coincide with any Whitecaps FC matches.


Bustos makes his return to international duty after having featured for the Reds' in their last four friendlies, including the November 11 road fixture in South Korea, where the 20-year old was named Canada's man of the match. The 5-foot-6 midfielder has five senior international appearances under his belt.


On Friday, Canada Soccer announced the appointment of Octavio Zambrano as the new head coach of the men's national team program. Zambrano will travel with the team to Scotland to begin his tenure.
