Vancouver Whitecaps FC fans — get ready to catch Saturday Night Fever this Saturday at BC Place! We are celebrating 40 years of the ‘Caps, ’74 style! Here's a brief glimpse of all the exciting events that fans can participate in throughout the match.
Saturday Night Fever
Get your bell-bottoms and afro wigs out of storage because May 3 will be “Saturday Night Fever.” Fans are encouraged to come to the match in their retro apparel and get into the spirit of the '70s. The players sure are.
This special 40th anniversary match presented by Bell will celebrate the first-ever ‘Caps match played on May 5, 1974 against the Earthquakes.
As part of the May 3 celebrations, pioneers from the original 1974 Whitecaps team will be honoured during a pre-match ceremony and Bob Lenarduzzi will be inducted into the club's new Ring of Honour. In addition, the 'Caps will be hosting their annual Alumni Night. A reminder to be in your seats early to watch the pre-match celebration!

Fans are also encouraged to stay in their seats at half-time to watch the on-pitch Bell ’74 Yourself Relay.
#BuckUp for Mental Health
A dollar went a long way back in 1974 – bread was $0.39 per loaf and gasoline was $0.14 per litre – and today the dollar will go a long way again. To celebrate the 40th anniversary, Whitecaps FC will be making an honorary donation to one of the club’s main charitable pillars, mental health.
Proceeds will directly support Clara’s Big Ride Vancouver Community Champion – the Kettle Society – and the Canadian Mental Health Association, BC Division. So on May 3, Whitecaps FC are asking every fan to #BuckUp for Mental Health and bring a dollar or more to the match. Our goal is to raise at least one dollar per fan!

Get ready for a throwback! A limited edition line of 1974-themed Whitecaps FC merchandise will be released for sale the week of the match online and at BC Place on May 3 for the 40th anniversary match. Don’t miss your chance to represent 40 years of ‘Caps spirit and ’74 yourself!
Season Ticket Holder Scarf Pick Up
We are looking forward to seeing your scarves held high at the match on May 3. If you haven’t picked up your scarf yet you can pick it up at the match. Don’t forget your ‘Caps Card, you will need it to get your gift.

‘Caps Kickoff
Come out to ‘Caps Kickoff from 2:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. PT at Terry Fox Plaza and get excited about the match. ‘Caps fans of all ages are invited show their support for the Blue and White at this fun community event.
To get the #Since74 spirit going, you can ‘shake your groove thing’ before the game with the exciting music from Dr. Strangelove, as they will be rocking the ‘Caps Kickoff from 2:30 p.m. PT onwards on the Terry Fox Plaza.
Sammy Soccer will also be on stilts roaming ‘Caps Kickoff and delivering laughs for Whitecaps FC fans.

Bell Fan Zone
Be sure to visit the Bell Fan Zone from 3 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. PT for your chance to meet and receive an autograph from Whitecaps FC goalkeeper Paolo Tornaghi. While you are at the Bell Fan Zone, you can also show off your Whitecaps FC pride by getting your face painted, colouring your own unique Whitecaps FC scarf, and scoring goals against the opposition as your favourite Whitecaps FC players in EA SPORTS FIFA 14.

The BMO Kicking Cage, which Whitecaps FC fans can find at ‘Caps Kickoff on Terry Fox Plaza, offers the chance for you to measure your speed and accuracy and see how you compare against your favourite ‘Caps players.
