VANCOUVER, BC – Vancouver Whitecaps FC fullback Mihail Gherasimencov has been called up to Moldova's men's national team for the March international window.

Moldova are set to play two friendlies during the window, facing off against Lithuania on Thursday, March 28 at 8 a.m. PT and then taking on Cyprus on Monday, March 30 at 9 a.m. PT.

Gherasimencov has already made three appearances for Moldova's senior side, while also suiting up for their U-21 and U-19 teams over the years.

The 20-year-old originally joined the Whitecaps FC BMO Academy in August 2020 after previously being part of the Whitecaps FC BMO Alberta Academy Centre and later joined Whitecaps FC 2, playing three seasons in MLS NEXT Pro.

After returning from a loan spell with Canadian Premier League side Cavalry FC in 2025, Gherasimencov became the 11th WFC2 MLS NEXT Pro player and 29th Whitecaps FC Homegrown product to sign a first team contract.

In his debut season as a member of the first team, Gherasimencov has made one start and two appearances. He made his debut as a second half substitute at Portland Timbers on March 7 and started his first match for the club against Minnesota United FC on March 15.
