BACK IN UTAH: After securing a crucial mid-week victory over Colorado Rapids at BC Place, the ‘Caps are set to hit the road as they return to their home for the first half of 2021 to visit Real Salt Lake for the first time since being a tenant at Rio Tinto Stadium. Vancouver has tallied a 4W-2L-0D record in their last six meetings with Salt Lake, scoring 11 goals in the process.
GAULDEN FORM: As he showed in 2021, Ryan Gauld has once again been an instrumental piece of the 'Caps offence this season, registering six goals and eight assists across all competitions, both career-highs with the club. Of those goal contributions, nine have come in Gauld's last eight matches in all competitions (four goals, five assists). The Scot will be looking to continue his golden form as the 'Caps push for a playoff spot in the final months of the season.
PLAYOFF CHASE: Entering the final eight matches of the regular season, the Blue and White sit seventh in the Western Conference with 33 points heading into the weekend's MLS action. The 'Caps are level on points with ninth placed Portland Timbers, eighth placed Nashville SC as well as sixth placed LA Galaxy, four points away from fifth placed Real Salt Lake and five points away from fourth placed Minnesota United FC.
