He may not see the field for the rest of the season, but this young Colombian has been putting in the work to get back on the pitch in 2023.

In this edition of "Quality Time", presented by GE Appliances, we catch up with forward Déiber Caicedo.

What’s your hometown (or country) known for?

There’s a lot of cultures in Colombia, where I was born something very common is being a joyful person that identifies a lot with dancing. In the Pacific or the Valle Del Cauca, people dance to a lot of Salsa, that’s very common over there.

What do you love most about Vancouver? 

The people, they’re all super educated. The quality of life here. The calmness, those are things I like a lot. The city is really beautiful, there’s a lot of places to explore, you can occupy yourself by doing a lot of different things here and I like that.

Who’s one celebrity you’d most like to meet?

That’s a tough one, probably Burna Boy and Will Smith.

If you had to swap places with a teammate for a day, who would you choose?

Florian Jungwirth, he enjoys life, knows what he wants and he’s super proactive, he loves to do lots of different things. 

There’s a zombie apocalypse and you can choose three teammates to help you survive it. Who are you picking?

Vite, Dajome, Gutierrez.

If you could have one superpower, what would it be?

Teleportation. 

Describe your dream home.

Have a family, a very unified one. I think that would be my dream home. 

What do you think you will do once your playing days are over?

I would to get to a top level football-wise, make history in this country and my country, play in a World Cup and then when I retire dedicate time to my family, it’s something very important to me because that’s where everything in my life has come from, so I’d dedicate myself to my family.

What’s your favourite genre of music?

There’s a lot, Salsa, Reggaeton and Afrobeats.

Who’s your favourite artist?

If I could give you a top three, it would be Andres Cepeda, Gilberto Santa Rosa and Victor Manuelle. 

Describe your dream vacation.

Spending time with my family, always, in Europe or in my country. Also could be with my friends because they also form part of my family, that would be my dream vacation. 

What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?

The best advice I’ve been given came from a coach I had when I was younger, rest his soul, it’s A.M.P. which stands for attitude, mental, positive, because if you aren’t strong in your mind, you go down. 

What’s the first thing you do when you wake up in the morning?

Check my phone. 

Describe the worst haircut you’ve ever had.

It was here in Vancouver four months ago, I didn’t like how they did my hair, told them I would never come back and haven’t been back since. Told them “nope, no good”.

If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Rice that my mom makes. 

What would the title of your autobiography be?

Being Human.

What’s the strangest job you’ve ever had?

Only job I’ve ever had is playing football.

What is your cellphone wallpaper?

Just a regular Apple wallpaper, but if I were to change it, it would be a photo of my family.

What’s something you like to do besides football?

I love music.
