Residency Report: Battle in Cascadia

Whitecaps FC Residency teams headed south to face Cascadia rivals Seattle Sounders FC on the weekend.


U-19

A first half goal from Jose Hernandez and a second half goal from Jefferson Alade gave the Blue and White a 2-1 win across the border.


The results pushes the U-19s only one point back of Crossfire Premier for top spot in the Northwest Division, with six matches remaining before the playoffs begin.

In a battle of the top two teams in the Northwest Division, the ‘Caps fell to a 2-0 defeat. The result sees Seattle five points ahead as the ‘Caps enter their final six matches.


“We knew what Seattle would bring and we worked on set plays, but they scored both goals that way, so that is disappointing,” noted head coach Adam Day after the match. “Our focus is to finish strong and prepare for the playoffs.”

The U-15s played to a 2-2 draw versus Sounders FC.


After going down 1-0, Frixos Petsas scored twice to give the ‘Caps a 2-1 lead before a late goal ended the match level.

The U-14s played to a 1-1 draw against a 2003-born Coquitlam Metro-Ford squad.
