Residency Report: Clean sweep in the Battle with Boston vs. Revolution Academy

Whitecaps FC Residency teams earned a clean sweep over New England Revolution Academy teams on Friday in a series of friendly matches ahead of the two clubs facing off in MLS action at BC Place on Saturday.


U-19

The U-19s kicked off the action against the Revs in a tight match at the National Soccer Development Centre (NSDC).


In the end, the Blue and White won 1-0 on a goal from substitute Jose Hernandez, set up Gurman Sangha’s dribbling and centering pass which followed a surging run up the middle by Chance Carter.


U-17

The U-17 ‘Caps played to a 4-1 win over their visiting counterparts.


Owen McBride netted a goal in the opening stages as the match shot out to a 1-1 score early on. The goal came on a cross from the left, and a tap in from McBride. In the second half, Tomas Ribeiro swung in a free kick that took a bounce and ended up in the back of the net for 2-1.


Later in the second half it was 14-year-old Kam Habibullah with a mazy run through multiple Revs defenders before striking a shot for a 3-1 lead. Soon thereafter, it was brother Massud Habibullah finishing with a low shot for a 4-1 final score.


U-15

The U-15 ‘Caps took a 2-1 victory in the final match of the day.


Eric White scored the first goal of the match with a long distance blast. Juliano Campedelli then made it 2-0 in the first half with a slick turn and good finish.
