Save the Rhino

What do rhino, Paul Blackthorne, Aaron Ramsey, Aamir Khan, and Vancouver Whitecaps FC have in common? They’re all on the same team – the Save the Rhino team.

Save the Rhino is a campaign launched by Blackthorne, an English actor best known for his work on Vancouver-shot TV show Arrow. The campaign aims to raise awareness for the planet’s rapidly diminishing rhino population, which is being hunted to the point of extinction by poachers.

At the current rate of poaching, all rhino species face extinction in the wild within 10 years.

Blackthorne recently paid a visit to the Whitecaps FC training centre to discuss the campaign. And later this month, he’s off to Vietnam – where 90 per cent off rhino horn poached in Africa end up – to help spread awareness of the animals’ plight.

Whitecaps FC fans who want to show their support can purchase a Save the Rhino T-shirt (until May 16) – 100 per cent of proceeds are being donated to Save the Rhino International. You can also re-tweet the following tweet for your chance to win a Save the Rhino T-shirt signed by several Whitecaps FC players.
