VANCOUVER, BC – Major League Soccer announced on Monday that Vancouver Whitecaps FC midfielder Sebastian Berhalter has been named to the MLS Team of the Matchday for Matchday 6 following his stunning stoppage time winner in the 'Caps come-from-behind victory against Cascadia rivals Portland Timbers at BC Place. The win saw the 'Caps maintain their unbeaten record when scoring first in MLS play under head coach Jesper Sørensen (22W-0L-4D).
Fresh off of international duty with the United States, Berhalter continued his impressive start to the season by scoring the game-winning goal in stoppage time from the top of the box, shortly after winning a clutch tackle in midfield to allow the 'Caps to make one last push for the winner. The USMNT international leads the Vancouver in goal contributions across all competitions this season with eight (four goals, four assists) and is now up to 48 total goal contributions for the club in all competitions (17 goals, 31 assists). In addition to his goal, Berhalter recorded four successful duels, seven recoveries, two chances created, and 85% passing accuracy. This is already Berhalter's fourth selection to the MLS Team of the Matchday this season (Matchday 1, Matchday 3, Matchday 4).
