Call-ups-Sebastian-Berhalter16x9

VANCOUVER, BC – Vancouver Whitecaps FC midfielder Sebastian Berhalter has been called up to the United States men’s national team for the upcoming March international window, marking his fourth selection to the senior squad.

The 27-player roster, selected by head coach Mauricio Pochettino, will gather in Atlanta for the USA’s final matches ahead of this summer’s 2026 FIFA World Cup on home soil.

The United States will face two top-10 FIFA-ranked European opponents at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, beginning with Belgium on Saturday, March 28 at 12:30 p.m. PT, before hosting Portugal on Tuesday, March 31 at 4 p.m. PT.

Berhalter has continued his rise within the national team setup after debuting in 2025. The Whitecaps FC midfielder started all five of his appearances at last summer’s Concacaf Gold Cup, recording two assists and helping the United States reach the final. He later scored his first international goal and added an assist in a 5-1 win over Uruguay during the November window. In total, Berhalter earned nine caps in 2025.

This call-up comes amid a standout run of form for Berhalter, who has opened 2026 leading Whitecaps FC in goal contributions with seven (three goals, four assists) while starting all seven matches across all competitions. He was most recently named to the MLS Team of the Matchday after recording a goal and two assists in a 6-0 win over Minnesota United FC.

In 2025, Berhalter earned widespread recognition, highlighted by selections to the Concacaf Champions Cup Best XI and MLS Best XI, an MLS All-Star starter nod, and being voted Vancouver Whitecaps FC Player of the Year.

The window marks the penultimate meeting for international sides ahead of the 2026 FIFA Men's World Cup™ this summer, with the U.S. placed in Group D alongside Paraguay, Australia, and the UEFA Playoff C winner between Türkiye, Romania, Kosovo, and Slovakia. The following window will see teams play warm-up matches leading into the tournament, which starts on June 11 with the opening match between Mexico and South Africa in Group A.
