Spectator Information: Battle for first place at BC Place │ '80s Match presented by Rio Mare

VANCOUVER, BC – 40 years.

That's how long it has been since Vancouver 86ers were introduced to the city in 1986.

In a nod to that anniversary, Vancouver Whitecaps FC will host an '80s Match, presented by Rio Mare, when Houston Dynamo FC come to BC Place in a battle for first place in the Western Conference this Wednesday, August 19.

Kickoff will be at 7:30 p.m. PT. Single match tickets are available at ticketmaster.ca/whitecaps. For all other ticket options, visit whitecapsfc.com/tickets.

Below is important information for fans attending the match.

'80s Match, presented by Rio Mare

  • 86ers headbands for the first 2,000 fans to enter the stadium
  • Grab a can of Rio Mare Insalatissime  on your way out

  • Enter at the new Gate A Premium Entrance off Terry Fox Plaza (Level 3)

Creekside Terrace (formerly Corner Club)

  • Enter through the new Pacific Blvd entrance, located across the street from Plaza of Nations, and take the elevator to Level 3
  • You will be greeted at the Premium concierge desk and shown directly into the Creekside Terrace

Coastal Lounge & Suites (formerly Edgewater)

  • Enter at the Gate B Premium Entrance off Terry Fox Plaza, to the left
  • The concierge desk will greet you

Supporters Section

  • All Whitecaps FC Supporters Sections (201-207 & 248-254) are strictly for home team fans
  • Section 253 is general admission
  • Many areas will be filled with standing, chanting and singing
  • Visiting or rival team colours (Houston Dynamo FC) and expressions of visiting team support are not permitted in the Whitecaps FC Supporter Sections
  • Visiting and rival team supporters may be relocated to another part of the stadium

Clear Bags/Bag Check

For the best stadium entry experience, Whitecaps FC and BC Place recommend fans do not bring a bag to the stadium. If you do:

  • Clear plastic smaller than 12”x12”x6”
  • One small opaque bag, but it can’t be larger than 6.5”x 8.5”
  • Bag check is available at Gates C and H (very limited space)
  • Exceptions for diaper bags and medically necessary items
  • All bags will be inspected prior to entry

Kid Captain

Whitecaps FC are honoured to have Bruno Lalor-Rodriguez from Starlight Canada as Kid Captain for Wednesday's match against Houston Dynamo FC.

Bruno is a joyful, strong, and resilient six-year-old boy who was born extremely premature at just 22 weeks and three days. After facing many challenges from the very beginning, Bruno received a life saving liver transplant, with his dad donating part of his liver to him, and he continues to live with Short Bowel Syndrome. Despite everything he has been through, Bruno’s incredible strength, positive spirit, and love for life inspire everyone around him, and he is always ready for his next adventure!

Supporter of the Match

Wednesday's supporter of the match is Audrey Qin from Coastal Guardians.

Audrey has been a Whitecaps FC supporter for four years, and a season ticket member for three.

Her favourite memory was watching the 'Caps make MLS Cup and cheering for them at the final in Miami.

Her favourite part about being in a supporters group is the sense of community—meeting people who share the same passion, cheering for the Whitecaps together, and creating unforgettable matchday memories.
