BURNABY, BC – Vancouver Whitecaps FC host Cavalry FC in the first leg of the TELUS Canadian Championship quarterfinals this Wednesday, July 8 at Swangard Stadium. Kickoff will be at 7:30 p.m. PT.
This will be the 'Caps first competitive match at Swangard Stadium since October 2010, and the first of the MLS era.
Below is important information for fans heading to the match.
SkyTrain Takeover and March to the Match
Vancouver Southsiders are organizing a special March to the Match, meeting outside of Waterfront SkyTrain station at 5:45 p.m. PT, and taking the expo line train to Patterson station.
If you can't make it to Waterfront in time, stay tuned to the Vancouver Southsiders on Instagram as they will be posting regular updates along the way to join in.
Arrive Early
Beat the rush and make the most of your matchday experience. Stadium gates open at 6:30 p.m. PT, so plan to arrive early to allow time for security screening, finding your seats, grabbing food, and checking out the fan activities before kickoff.
Children:
- Children under 2 years of age get in free (with a parent or guardian)
- Must sit on lap
Pets
- Pets are not permitted at Swangard unless service animals with proper certification
No in and out privileges
- Any patrons who exit the stadium will not be granted re-entry even with a valid ticket
Fan Zone
Be sure to stop by the Fan Zone in the south end before the match for a full pre-game experience featuring:

Gates & Entry
Fans can enter through any of the four stadium gates once they open at 6:30 p.m. PT. Have your mobile tickets ready before approaching security screening.
Mobile Tickets
All tickets are mobile. To ensure a smooth entry:
- Download your tickets to your phone before arriving
- Increase your screen brightness for scanning
- Transfer tickets to friends or family ahead of time if arriving separately
Will Call & Guest Services
Box Offices will be located at Gates 1 & 3, and Guest Services will be located at Gate 3.
Transit
Transit is strongly recommended for matches at Swangard Stadium. The venue is accessible by:
- Patterson Station on the Expo Line, with a 7-10 minute walk from the station
- Local bus routes servicing Central Park and Burnaby
Plan your route in advance and allow extra travel time on matchdays.
Parking
Limited parking is available around the stadium and surrounding park areas. Parking lots may fill quickly, so arriving early is recommended. Please follow all posted parking regulations in the surrounding neighbourhoods.

Dress for the Weather
Swangard Stadium is an outdoor venue, so please come prepared for changing weather conditions.
Check the forecast before heading to the stadium and dress accordingly.
Swangard Stadium Rules
Prohibited Items:
- Bags larger than the approved 14” x 14” x 6”
- Outside F&B unless authorized
- Firearms, ammunition, stun guns, self-defence sprays, fuels, torches, lighter fluid, bats, brass knuckles, batons, martial art weapons, knives, razor blades, box cutter, scissors and toolsWeapons or replicas of any kind including but not limited to:
- Explosive aerosols and fireworks of any kind that includes, but is not limited to: flares, smoke bombs, incendiary devices and pyrotechnics
- Illegal drugs or harmful chemicals
- Professional camera equipment, including but not limited to: cameras with lenses longer than 3 inches, video cameras, and the use of video capable devices such as GoPro as well as tripods, selfie sticks, telescopic or similar devices
- Items intended to create an optical distraction (laser pointers)
- Aerosol cans or noise making devices, whistles, air horns and plastic horns such as vuvuzelas
- Poles or sticks of any size. Pre-approved poles or sticks associated with banners or flags will be managed separately
- Inappropriate attire or signage including political messages and gang affiliations
- Beach balls or other inflatable items, including inflated soccer balls
- Non-service animals
- Rollerblades, skateboards, hoverboards, scooters and bicycles
- Drones (unmanned aircraft systems) or other model aircraft
Bag Policy
No bag check onside and bags must be under 14” x 14” x 6” – no coolers, backpacks, or luggage. All bags are subject to security screening upon entry.
Bags should be soft sided and must completely fit under a stadium seat without blocking patrons’ path of travel.
Prohibited bags also include, but are not limited to:
- Coolers
- Backpacks
- Luggage
- Computer bags
- Camera bags
- Briefcases
Special considerations will be made for guests with special medical needs and parents caring for infants.
Stroller Parking
Designated stroller parking area will be available inside the gates in the Fan Zone.
Free Bike Parking
We’ve got you covered with a fenced bike parking area where you can securely lock your bike before heading to the stands.
Location is outside Gate 2 along the fence line (stadium entrance off corner of Boundary Rd & Kingsway).
